2004 - (on vinyl) Jimmy Martin & The Sunny Mountain Boys - This is a nicely put-together collection of 16 songs by Martin, most of them taken from live recordings that range from 1958 to 2001. The disc starts off with Bill Monroe’s classic DECCA recording of ON AND ON, featuring Martin leading a great trio. That is followed by 9 tracks from live shows from 1958 and 1960, including some off the air at the KWKH Louisiana Hayride. All of these cuts feature the classic configuration of Martin, J.D. Crowe and Paul Williams, and they really punch the songs out with the electric energy that the band had in its early years—great stuff.
