2021 - (on vinyl) - Remastered from the original analog tapes, this reissue of California Autumn has been updated with new packaging and graphics. It includes liner notes penned by Blue Highway front man and noted Tony Rice authority Tim Stafford and contains a number of never- before- seen photos of Tony from his earliest days as a professional musician. One of Rice's early (1975) albums, this is a superb effort beautifully produced by John Starling and containing a good assortment of material including Tony's fine vocals on GODD WAMAN'S LOVE, GEORGIA ON MY MIND, and brother Larry's MR. POVERTY. In the way of instrumentals there are the lovely renditions of BEAUMONT RAG, RED HAIRED BOY, and BILLY IN THE LOW GROUND. Tasteful backing is provided by Starling and other members of the Seldom Scene: Ben Eldridge (banjo), Tom Gray (bass), Mike Auldridge (dobro) plus Jerry Douglas (dobro), J.D. Crowe (banjo), Larry Rice (mandolin) and Ricky Skaggs (fiddle, mandolin & vocals). Tony Rice: lead, rhythm guitar & vocals. Highly recommended.
