2018 - Consequently, if the band wants to rest on their considerable laurels by replaying their greatest hits with the Atlanta Pops Orchestra Ensemble in tow, few fans would argue that they’ve earned the right to do so. That said, Mountain Overture equates to the Balsams’ best of, given the fact that the symphony and its strings are far from intrusive, and on some songs, hardly noticeable at all. That’s fine of course; these songs stand on their own and any opportunity for a reboot is one worth revisiting.

2021 - Balsam Range is a band that keeps up with the times not by pushing the game forward, but by pushing their game forward. They’re not reinventing the bluegrass wheel, but their constant refinements of their personal bluegrass mission statement, in this reviewer’s opinion, are just as impressive. The album includes the band's four most recent singles, each of which topped the bluegrass charts, and a new track heading for radio. Balsam Range is Buddy Melton (fiddle, lead and tenor vocals); Darren Nicholson (mandolin, octave mandolin, lead vocals, baritone and low tenor vocals); Dr. Marc Pruett (banjo); Tim Surrett (bass, dobro, baritone and lead vocals); and Caleb Smith (guitar, lead & baritone vocals).
