2004 - The Delmore Brothers, Alton (b. 1908) and Rabon (b. 1916), were one of the great early country harmonizing duos who recorded from 1933 to the early '50s and were a significant influence on other sibling duos such as The Louvin Brothers and The Everly Brothers. Unusually for that time the Delmores would switch high and low harmony parts from song to song or even within the same song, and whether performing their own songs, traditional ones or gospel they brought a strong bluesy feeling to both their music and their vocals. This is a typically authoritative JSP coverage of the duo's best early recordings, with extensive essay detailing their life and career.

2005 - incl. 12 page booklet - This great country duo was in its prime when the material on this 24-song compilation was recorded for King from the mid-'40s to the mid-'50s. This isn't the cream of that crop, as much of that was been collected on an earlier, superior Ace anthology, Freight Train Boogie. As a secondary collection, however, it presents some always respectable and often very good hillbilly music. It concentrates on sides that hadn't previously been reissued on CD, or reissued at all, including half a dozen outtakes and alternate takes that hadn't been released anywhere, and repeating little from the Freight Train Boogie compilation.

2014 - 20 original King recordings 1946-52 - It's kind of a toss-up as to whether this or the German When They Let the Hammer Fall is the best compilation of the Delmore Brothers work from the late '40s and early '50s. When They Let the Hammer Fall is more raucous and up-tempo; the 20-track Freight Train Boogie, though, has more variety. Freight Train Boogie is much easier to locate in the U.S. than When They Let the Hammer Fall. In addition, there's a fair amount of duplication between the anthologies, though each includes several noteworthy songs not on the other.

2008 - featuring Red Foley, Grandpa Jones, Merle Travis, Fiddlin' Arthur Smith and Wayne Raney. This third addition in JSP's final word on the Delmore Brothers might be the most wide-ranging in the series. While the first two volumes concentrated mostly on their 1930s recordings, this four disc edition covers much from the '40s and '50s as well. From early hillbilly boogie to group-harmonized country gospel, each disc focuses on a different stage of the Alabama twosome's expansive career.
